I conjured up my era beautifully. Then added a glaring inaccuracy which I didn't double check until after I'd sent it. Oh well! You win some you lose some!
I agree it feels like an exam... except for me it feels like the exam I took where I referred to a leading anthropologist in a past tense, wondering what she would have made of today's culture.... only to find out not only was she very much alive (and not even that old) but she was an external examiner.

I agree, Jonathan and Susan - it's a big ask to get a story and the feel of history as well (shhhh... and judging by the prev comp judging, it's hard to gauge what could win anyway!). still, we entered and it got us focussed which is all good for the writing soul!
