Legal aspects of a story inspired by true events

Many moons ago I happened to dine at the house of a Middle-eastern family. A week later the family's son was arrested for planting a bomb on his pregnant fiancee and booking her on to a flight to Tel Aviv. The plot was foiled and he got a 45 year stretch. He is recently out. The ex fiancee shuns publicity so co-operation is unlikely. How can i find out about the legal hazards of telling this story?.

I'm no expert but they will have legal representation -it may be worth trying to find out who this is and contacting them and telling them your intentions?
