How many words is concidered a normal length for a childrens book age 11 to 14

I would be surprised if there is a 'normal length' for that age group. The fifth and longest Harry Potter would originally have been aimed at that age group and I believe that hovered around the 170,000 word mark. Jeremy Strong writes in that age group and I have one called Stuff that I'm quite sure is well over 50,000 words. I have two others for that age range which I believe to be closer to 80,000 words, perhaps more.
It would also depend a little on the genre. Light comedic themes tend to be smaller whereas Warhorse, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas etc are just as long as they need to be. I don't think you can go far wrong with the standard novel size of 50,000 to 80,000 as kids of that age are expected to be able to read a full novel. You could go a little lower if you wanted, but I wouldn't go any higher.
