I am a first time author.

Can anyone help me with advice on how to get a literary agent, please.

Hi Mark,

If you want to get published in the traditional sense, then you will most certainly need a literary agent. I can see there's been a lot of useful advice already - such as competitions and the Yearbook - but I also wanted to make you aware of another viable route: submitting your work to indie presses, who most usually accept unsolicited submissions. There's a great website called the Indie Press Network: https://indiepressnetwork.com/presses/

Ultimately, it's about how you feel about your work and what path you think is best. Self-publishing, indie publishing, traditional publishing are all valid routes. What is it that you want to get out of the publishing experience?

I hope this helps!

Hi Mark

If funds are limited you can always self-publish and market yourself.

Depending on genre and reach, i can help with ideas moving forward.

Have been a typesetter for self-published authors for over 14 years across all major online retailers. They all have their pros and cons.

But i always recommend, start promoting social media before first chapter is written.

Get fans involved. Build anticipation. Build audience.

Enjoy the process as you create.

Reap rewards after publication.

If you need to brainstorm free or other options, let me know.

Otherwise enjoy the process.

Best, Colette
