I like to read books by authors who use easy to understand sentences that can connect us to them. For example self-development books by Dale Carneige are very well written. The sentences somehow connect me to what Dale wrote. Hard to explain. An easier way to put it is : It's like after reading a book that contains such sentences, I feel as if the writer and I are somehow like 'kindred spirits'.
I dislike reading books which contain a lot of 'trash' & F words. Gee...they kill the urge to read. An occasional one is fine but to read a book that contains too many of such words, I would say it's better not to waste my time reading it. Nothing concrete to learn from such books.
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite books.
But i've loved Allie Condies Matched series, and also Tabitha Suzuma's book Forbidden. I can't choose between those three.
There's only been 1 book that's made me physically angry before, and that's a book called Enigma. It was clearly self-published and the author hadn't bothered to edit it or read it out loud. Was a shame.
Siew Leng Lee, what about 'When Mr Dog Bites?' by Brian Conaghan?
Great book, full of swearing because he's writing about a boy with tourettes. Nevertheless, a great book.
