The market for the novella

I have been writing a novella since March of this year. It actually started by accident and let's say this 'accident' is the best thing that has ever happened to me this year.

Anyway, I was wondering when I finish my novella will it be easier to market into the mainstream in terms of print or through ebooks such as Kindles, Kobo, etc? Apparently it is harder to market a novella because they are not popular as such, although I read it is cheaper to produce.

Help and advice would be appreciate

Thanks

Hi Malcolm, novelettes are between 7500 and 17500 words I believe... Mine is currently just under 10000 and I'm still editing :) I was considering self publication via kindle so might stick to that! Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it!

Jeannine, Vicky,

I think novellas are more difficult to get published traditionally, they seem to be the perogative of established authors. Likewise I think novelettes (how many words?) are more suited to Kindle / e-books, although I suspect you may have to self publish these.

Currently I am doing short stories, looking to get published in anthologies and entering competitions. I have a novel in progress, but needs kick starting again.

I think far more people read novellas now, especially if they are much cheaper than a novel would be in ebook format.
