Do you think movies based on books are better than original

Yes, but from memory the left out all bits about the "Holes", which I felt where essential to the framework of the story, being that it was supposed to be full of holes.

The only film I can think of that is as good as the book Holes. they cut nothing out and the only thing they change, they did so for the good of the main actor.

Depends if it's your book or not. If I wrote a book that they made into a film I'd definitely say that my book was better. Although I suppose it depends if they'd asked me to write the screenplay for it as well. And if I also starred in it and directed it, then it would probably depend on who asked me. For example, if an Executive Director from Warner Bros phoned me up to ask me, and it was a Warner Bros film, then I'd definitely say that I preferred the film. But if my Mum asked, then I'd say the book.
