Hi Community,
I have a short Children's story that I have been offered two Hybrid contracts for, by Austin & Macauley and also Olympia publishers.
The problem is I do not have an illustrator and I do not have the funds available for one either.
I'm not sure but an Agent seems the right way to go? -any advice is appreciated.
Kindest regards & thank you

What is a hybrid publisher?
Hi Harry, I think it refers to a publisher that charges the writer for their services at the first instance, as well as selling their book. They don't wholeheartedly take you on' or so it feels.

Thank you that's really helpful.
Hi Danica,
While there are many different routes to publication, we always advise caution when dealing with hybrid publishers or vanity publishers. They usually ask for money up front and at W&A we always say that you shouldn't have to pay in order to get published.
The world of publishing is constantly evolving - there are crowdfunding options and legitimate self-publishing companies - however finding a literary agent is often seen as the most 'traditional' of routes.
If you're looking for more information on publishing options, check out the W&A Guide to How to Hook an Agent or the Guide to Getting Published. Both give really useful overviews and are packed full of information to help you to make an informed choice.
