New Cover II

Hello all,

Following on from my earlier question, at...

http://www.writersandartists.co.uk/question/view/502

I took some ideas on board and re-jigged my cover. I'd love your opinion on it now - please bear in mind it's a work-in-progress version and can be tweaked..

It's at www.plague-thriller.co.uk

Thanks, David

Hi David,

I like the dead face and the cloaked body, but I think the black is too contrasty. Your name at the bottom is cut in half by this contrast, perhaps a texture of stone or wood instead. Are we in a coffin with the body, or is he resting on a plinth? Or extend the cloak to the bottom of the page.

The title with outline and bevel etc I still find overworked, but that is probably just me, I do like a plain font against a textured background. There's is something elegant in a Roman font and doesn't need embellishment, just plain white on black here might work better, I find the Gothic one you have used distracts a little.

There is warm illumination on the face, but not from the visible cold light source. Just a thought.

Out of interest there is a cover archive, http://bookcoverarchive.com/ if you haven't already looked.

I can't remember exactly what the old one looked like, but I remember the lettering was red and I much prefer it now. I really like the metalic colour you've chosen for your name. It wasn't a skull before, was it? Not sure now, but I think the colour scheme is vastly improved.
