Hi all. I don't know about anyone else but I'm fed up with all the adverts that are being posted on this site. It really puts me off posting anything myself or even reading other posts. There's so many on now they've almost taken over the view writers work site. Anything you can do admin?
Hi Adrian and Elsie,
We hear you, loud and clear. The adverts and unwanted spam are massively annoying for us as well, however there's not much we can do to prevent them at the moment, other than deleting the user and comments as soon as possible.Sometimes this takes longer than would normally be expected.
The website is run by two members of the Writers & Artists team, so we do our best to delete these posts as and when they occur, which is irritatingly more common over the weekends.
This site is creaking, having been developed almost 8 years ago and a lot of basic functionality was overlooked. A new version of the website is currently in development, which we have been working on with developers since January this year, but have developed internally for the last 18-months. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you know, website development can be a lengthy process however we're hoping to have the new site up and running by the end of this year, at the very latest early stages of 2019. It's something we've been working really hard on, and we want to get it right.
Adrian, the basic permissions that you speak of will be included in the new website, along with so much more for the deserving W&A members. We've been working hard to make sure the new website will be tailored to meet the individual needs of W&A members, providing them with personalised content, offers, and much more emphasis based on shared work, discussions and community interaction. After all, Writers & Artists was created to help writers on their path to publication and this is something we want to bring to the forefront, once again, in the new website.
We do thank you for your patience. We want this website to be a safe space for all of you to share your writing and writing journey with each other.
All best,
Writers & Artists Admin
I completely agree Adrian. It is disheartening seeing your hard work pushed to the bottom of the pile again and again. I'm pretty sure there must be some kind of tighter monitoring can be done about this problem.
Elsie, I agree.
If members take the trouble to try and keep these forums active, then the least we can expect is a properly maintained and well-policed website. It is disheartening for members to see their posts pushed below a list of adverts.
Surely, there must be more than one admin who has access to the ACP/Admin Control Panel, where they can clean the cache and delete unwanted posts.
I'm also sick of the lame excuse that this problem will change when the website is updated. How much longer must we wait? Bloomsbury are guilty of gross laziness in their failure to have already employed a website professional.
I'm no expert, but I used to run a clan-website for an online game. It was easy to allocate each clan member certain permissions regarding their rank. Ordinary members were allowed to post, reply to other posts, and edit and delete their own posts.
Basic permissions that each W&A member deserve.
Bloomsbury, why are we STILL Waiting?
