Numbering pages.

Hi all. A simple question really. When would be the best time to number your ms pages? This may sound silly and obvious, of course at the end. But I thought I had finished some work and realised I had to make an adjustment to it at the beginning therefore moving the page number down onto the top of the next page. Then came the task of shuttling the rest of the page numbers around. This happened several times and was annoying and time consuming. Is there an answer to this? Thanks.

If you're publishing for Kindle, Elsie, there are no page numbers. If for hard copy, then don't do it until you're sure you've finished - this publishing lark is very wearing!

Thanks Jonathan looks like I'll be waiting a while longer then. Found some more editing so I'll be busy re-numbering again. Ha!

Yep - right at the end. When you're formatting the completed manuscript for submission to an agent/publisher, or for self-pubbing.

I did the same - more editing after I thought I'd finished :(
