Hi, today I've been to a publishing company and they have offered to publish five of my books that I have written. They are drawing up a contract for me now...but I need some advice. Do you suggest I have a solicitor view the contract?? also they have told me the % of what i'll get for every book that I sell?? does anyone know the standard % of a book that is £6 each??

Congratulations!

But unless you're familiar with contracts do get it checked. Solicitors aren't usually the right people, unless they happen to have dealt with a lot of authors. There is an author's association that provides a contract checking service - I'm afraid I can't recall the name but a Google search will probably throw it up - but you must be a member.

At that retail price I suspect you'll likely earn between 50p and 80p a copy, so hope for lots of sales!
