Just sending my whole manuscript off as requested to Pegasus, Elliot and McKenzie publishers. Has anyone had any dealings with them or knows of them?

Replies

Thanks Louise and Katie-Ellen. Both comments are gratefully received. I have been on Mick Rooney's blog also and a few other forums.

PEM have two imprints. One uses, apparently, a 'traditional' model. The second offers 'subsidy' publishing. If they don't consider your manuscript suitable for their traditional arm they will probably offer to publish provided you pay for editing, production costs etc.

If you choose not to accept the latter they will return your manuscript, provided you've sent return postage, though it may take some time.

That's my experience of them, anyway.

I wasn't debating Louise's point, only sharing some topical information from within my recent spheres of contact. I don't know whether the Police generated the BBC coverage, or the publisher. Vanity publishing does figure some illustrious writers in its long history, but nowadays is notorious for tending not to be pro-active in Marketing, assuming they were previously tight enough on editing, and a published writer needs both of those, like oxygen.
