Good morning. I have well and truly been bitten by the writing bug. I have now started a Thriller novel and currently have just under 10k words. My question is; How do you know when your ready to approach an editor or contact a publisher?

David, it is not your question that is daft, without wanting to criticise you, what is daft is your response to Emilie's suggestion that you must edit and re-edit your book until it is as perfect as you can make it.
We all write with confidence but we all make mistakes, there is no chance that your first editing will be your last. No one is that good.

Thank you for getting in touch Emilie. To rewrite a draft 3 times seems slightly excessive to me. Wouldn't this surely create an issue or perhaps uncertainty with the phrasing and scenario layout that was never in the novel to begin with. I like to think I write with a touch of confidence after all.
Thank you for your swift answer and advice. I will surely consider it moving forward.
And I've made one, too: 'until' should be 'before'. I was thinking in negative mode but I used a positive structure for the sentence. Consistency is vital.
