HI all, I'm new to this site. In fact I've only recently rediscovered my passion for creative writing which is ironic considering I have been studying for my BA (English and Creative Writing) for the past 3 years. I'm really excited about it but I would really appreciate some tips and advice.
The problem for me is that I have a huge fear of failure, I have so many ideas for stories and characters and I think about them all the time, playing out scenarios in my head, running through plot ideas etc., (it keeps me awake some nights) but I struggle with putting them down on paper, or I start and decide that it's no good.
It's very frustrating.
Help!
Sam
You mean there's a clinical reason for never being satisfied with anything you've done...ever?
And I thought it was just me.
The most important thing is just to write what ever comes into your head. No matter with you feel it is good bad or indifferent at the time. I find it's important to get it down on paper before I lose it. Sometimes the words pour out and other times they just trickle. Either way go for it. It's taken me years to even admit that I am a writer to anybody let alone let it be seen by anybody. So I know completely how you feel about criticism.
John's right the hardest part is starting. But also as he says keep rewriting and you will see something come together worth your efforts. GO for it!
Hi Samantha, I've sent you a message, hope you received it ok, I'm not yet sure how this site works.
