I am helping a friend who has written a concept for a motivational/self help book. I am using this site to get as much information as possible. I agree with Lorraine, the writers and artists is what you need. it's got advice from authors and contact information of publishing houses and agents.
The Writers and Artists Yearbook is exactly the sort of listing resource you're looking for. Have you tried it? You may find one in your local library, if you're not sure, or there is an online version for sale.
