The Road I was Once On

Hi everyone,

I had an experience this week and I thought I'd share it with whoever comes across my post.

The past four months I had lost myself to the needs of others. There was a time when I couldn't wait to type up a page or even a chapter when I was disciplined enough to make the time for something I considered my passion. I have this file on my laptop titled "Book Stuff". Its fair to say I haven't opened that file in over four months.

Well this week I was in town. I was making my way into college just after lunch time and I had my earphones buzzing away in my ears. I was in another world entirely when my feet came to a stop. I'm not sure what it was but I had this surreal urge to take my earphones out and just look around. I had stopped right outside a book shop. For the first time in four months I walked into that store, picked up a book and felt like I was home. Sort of like remembering a sweet smell you once experienced when you were small and reliving it twenty years later. It felt magical to me and reminded me that deep down I never really forgot about my dream to write. So this post is more or less for myself, this will be my starting mark in my journey back to the road I was once on.

Hi David, only just found your post and what you say has probably happened to most of us, not stopping at that book shop of course!!! but the giving our time to other people or the things that HAVE to be done. We need our time to live OUR passion, and I'm glad you have realised that before you lost your drive. By the way I quite like the way you wrote your post, was almost like the beginning to a story. Glad you are back at the keyboard.

Good to see you back on here David, and to hear you're writing again! I'd also wondered where you'd got to. Sometimes life takes over, but you do get back to writing again. Looking forward to reading more work here and on your blog xx

I'd been wondering where you'd disappeared to so abruptly. Glad to see that you're back on track. I'm not saying that writing's for everyone, but if you know that that's where you belong, then go for it!
