Rules of romance writing?

Hi all, I've started to write my first romance, a snippet of which I have uploaded. I was wondering if there were specific rules to follow when writing romance or any tips people have in order for me to write a successful romantic story which (hopefully) I can turn into a novel :) thank you in advance.

Yes, I love a bit of romance too :-) My book is fantasy but there seems to be a fair bit of romance emerging with all the death and violence (perhaps as an antidote?) I would say that it needs to feel real and not contrived, as though it is the natural progression for the characters you've chosen to put together. Then really it is up to you, whether it is forbidden love, or predestined, or doomed to fail, you'll find that if it's the right thing it will just flow. Rules for writing romance? I would suggest to follow your heart...

My favorit genre in deed. I believe a good book should have the element of romance no matter how minimal. My stories always start with the romance details first and then I build from that. When I listen to a good love song I delop my characters from that. At the moment I'm stuck on The Script - Nothing is my favourite song. From what he looks like that attracts her and what she looks like that attract him. He sees it in the simple things she does like comb her hair and likewise. Their hearts beats and thuds when they catch a climpse of each other and so the tension builds, the almost touching and the feelings they aquire. The reader turns the page in anticipation until finally when they overcome the hurdle and kiss... sorry I get carried away, but that's what I would do. Good luck though and please post a snippet.
