Screenplay

Finding Annie is my debut novel self published only last month. A range of people have suggested that it would make a good film. I guess I need a screenplay, but how do I do this with zero experience? Are there people out there prepared to collaborate in such an enterprise? Is there a process of submitting a novel to a film company with a view to their commissioning a screen play? Help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter. The best suggestion I can make is find a screenplay writing course and join it. I have done two courses in this and it's so different than novel writing. You have to break it down into scenes and also keep sub plots moving at the same time as your central plot. Then there's dialogue, there are certain things you should avoid and definite ways of introducing the screen play. If you go onto BBC Writersroom, they usually have a free course on there run by a university. Good luck hope this helps.
