Self-Publishing

Has anyone had any success self-publishing? (Not including porn.) I've published three novels and eight novelettes and haven't sold a bean.

This is really good so far, i'm still in process of writing my first book. I was thinking self publishing, the only thing i could think of would be social media and blogging to spread word. copy link to where a customer can buy the book and share it with friends ask them to paste it and if you post to 100 friends and those 100 to another 100 thats then into thousands who may see link. one quick question.... once i have written my book down on paper sheets, how or who can turn it into an actual book?

You did the writing, you did the publishing. All by yourself. But you don't have to sell it all by yourself.

First, get your friends to spread the word. These friends should be people in your group - literary or some other interests. In my literary groups, there are many who are self-publishing and they all need each other to market their works. These friends can spread the word about your book in their other interactive activities.

I also encourage writers to market their books wherever they go, especially if they have a car that they move around in. They could have a 'bookshop in the boot' as I call it. Small movements but it can create an appetite. I usually buy my friends books and resell them this way at no extra cost. Sometimes, I just pick the books and keep them with me and return any money's on books I sell.

Another way is to shift them to bookshops by yourself at a reasonable discount for the bookseller. Requires you to monitor sales and restocking.

The thing with marketing self-published books is putting the word out. So a simple blog or a Facebook/Twittr account can help.
