Have I caught your attention?
I just wondered why, as a writing community we don't seem to communicate that well. As a frequent flyers of four writing related sites, why is it on this one, people are unwilling to critique other peoples work. Aren't we here to help each other in any way we can?
As to myself, I attempt to review at least two or three per week, even though I'm currently re-drafting my own MS. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm only trying to get people talking and helping each other, because without that, how do we know if what we are writing is any good.
So come on, who's behind me on this? Let us make a brilliant writers community that will make others drool with envy.
Sarah. :)
I found some pieces on here (no names) need so much reworking I don't want to spend the time commenting on them. I'm talking really basic stuff - structure, punctuation - before you even begin to look at characters and storyline.
I realise everyone needs encouragement and advice, I just wish writers would read through their pieces before posting. Or maybe I'm just too fussy.
Hi Charlene.
youwriteon.com is a good site, but to post any work you do have to review other peoples pieces first. I also use yalitchat.org but that site is just for YA writers. Then there's waenetwork.com and fictionpost.com. All of these sites are American, but welcome new writers from all over the globe, but it is customary to review other pieces, as it's not seen as being fair if you don't.
I think I've come to the conclusion, it seems that Americans appear to be more open and eager to help other writers out, but that's just my opinion.
Good luck with your novel.
Sarah :)
Can I ask what sites you've been using that are giving feedback on your work? Like you, I'd like some feedback as a new budding writer but I'd prefer the ability to publish more than one thing at once if possible. I put up a couple of poems but I have a story or two I could put up too, although I'd like to write a novel eventually ( I have a rough plan for my novel but not much else) which probably won't be posted. I haven't given feedback on other work either, I'll admit, mainly because it doesn't seem to be common to do so.
