*Sigh*. It's fiction. I've not read it but by all accounts it's not very well written, either.

To be fair a few other writers have had self-pubs picked up by the mainstream and done well, but FSOG is exceptional, fuelled by a media frenzy (what else) and its racy nature. Soft porn, if you like, and sex sells - always has done. So it's no wonder publishers are looking for clones before readers get bored with bouncing bodies.

My main beef with this is if the book had been written by a man, and aimed at men, it would have been denounced as violence towards women by the same media fawning over it now.

I wouldn't worry too much - in ten years it'll have been forgotten.
