Hi all, I know novels are long due to a question I asked previously and have found out rough estimates for how long they should be but I was wondering what word count is a short story typically and how can you tell if you are writing a short story or indeed writing a novella? Any replies are highly appreciated thank you :)
Ahh this helps me too. Ive been struggling with one of my stories. I keep feeling like I have finished it but it keeps feeling far too short! but this word count will be a big help.
It also depends on your market. A short story for a magazine could be 1,000 to 2,000 words.
Aha thank you Louise, I've never heard of a novelette but by the looks of it mine are close to that but still in the short story section :)
