I recently self-published my first book through an American company. I am happy with their editorial support and in general the final product, both in content as in hard product. Marketing the book and distribution has been the bane of this process though.
I now have a series of short stories I would like to publish, however I would like to take this down the traditional path. I understand literary agents are not usually interested in short stories from unknown writers. Is that really the case? How can I go about finding one who would take an interest?
I was also pondering on the idea of releasing one of the stories online FOC as a teaser, attaching one or two for say something like £0.99 to download and alternating for a period of time to test interest and probably gain some following outside my (very small) crowd of followers. Not forgetting about signing up to competitions as well.
Does anyone think that is a good idea? If so, what are the best sites for that? I tried contacting Createspace/Amazon but just seem to get generic responses, none of them really answering my question.
Welcome Ant.
Actually Ashwerya T, I was investigating and researching on that precisely last night! Thanks for suggesting it too.
By what I have been reading, for a newbie, it may be the best way. I have started an idea for my next novel, but still in embryonic stage, so I am trying to push the shorties for now. Thanks again for your input.
