When you enter a short story or poetry competition, do you put your name on your entry, or just the entry form? Does your poem/story need to be anonymous when the judges read it?

Thank you!

Hi Lauren

It very much depends on the terms and conditions of the competition. Often the entries do need to be anonymous so that everyone gets a fair chance. Some competitions explicitly ask you NOT to put your name anywhere than on the entry form. The best thing is to follow all of the instructions clearly that way you have done everything you can do give your story/poem a good chance.

Good luck!
