Should I register or no

Hi,

Has anyone heard of or had any dealings with, www.iauthor.uk.com/

This site, iAuthor, could be a tremendous opportunity or a very bad mistake for authors.

Which is it?

According to VentureBeat Business, it is to give self-publishing authors a louder voice. The founder wanted to tackle the 'book discoverability problem' and saw that a gap existed in the market between self-publishers and established authors.

My gut feeling tells me to be cautious before registering with this site.

I don't like clicking boxes willy-nilly, as you never know what you are clicking/signing away by doing so.

Right. Their T&Cs are very similar to Google+, it's easy to add information and you don't actually load sample content - you need to link to it. So it's probably easiest if posted on your own blog or website. All that means there ought to be no copyright issues.

They say it'll always be free for authors - you can always delete your details if that proves not to be the case. Given that lack of visibility is the bane of all promotion, I'll see what difference this site makes, if any.

Dor, they say they earn click-through commissions from retailers (you have to post links to your book on Amazon etc), which doesn't seem unreasonable.

Have you heard of, or are you inspired to buy, any of the books you see there?

Also consider: they have to make money. How are they doing that?

Bookbub is supposed to be good - I've never heard anybody say they haven't made their money back - and part of the reason is because they screen the books they promote and because they are targeting interested readers.

I've never heard of them so I took a quick look.

Since author services are free, always an attraction, and I can't find any query areas so far, I'll sign myself up and et you know :)
