Hi,
I've had a bad experience with editorial services and been recently informed I'm not alone. It is a relatively new industry, and I haven't managed to find any professional or regulatory body yet, apart from the Society of Editors and Proofreaders. I wonder if Writers and Artists could start a review of services, or if there is a uk forum for such. What do you others think?
Hello, Roslyn,
That seems like a good idea to me. Last night, on another Q/A, I found this: http://www.sfwa.org/other-resources/for-authors/writer-beware/alerts/#SBPRA
The list that this is part of has been compiled by The Science Fiction And Fantasy Writers Of America, so it's possible that they only include shady characters that have been brought to their attention by their members. And this is only a list of the services to be AVOIDED.
I haven't found out how to write a blog on here - as opposed to a Question - but why don't you suggest to the web managers that you start a blog on the subject and ask for members' experience: good AND bad? If successful, the web managers could then convert it into a feature / service to the community. (But make sure that they give you extra points for the great idea.)
