Stuck.

I do believe that I am stuck. I feel like my writing has been a bit clunky lately, does anyone have any tips on how to get the flow going again?

I've tried all sorts.

- Write a new section

- Read something new

- Visit a charity shop and read all the synopses from the books on a shelf

- Watch a film

- Write a short story

- Go back to my original outline and see why I have become stuck

Ultimately I find that if I am 'stuck' then I should do something completely unrelated. Last weekend I tidied our garden. Putting my mind to something else. Cleared the block and I've managed to write 7000 words of my second novel in the last few days.

Good luck. I hope you get over your block soon.

Lol. 49 comments and counting!

Lily, I take a bath when ideas stick. I then find myself stranded in hot water without a pen! But it works.

I have to say, I mostly have this problem when I'm ill. Are you coming down with something? I write loads when I'm ill and usually dump it as soon as I'm better. I once accidently turned my book into Charlie's Angels during a bout of tonsilitus! Hee hee.

One of the other suggestions also works well for me. I jump ahead to a bit I'm looking forward to writing and jump back later when everything seems easier again.

Good luck with it. Vxx
