Hi, I'm new here. I just turned 22 and just finished a degree in illustration only to realise my passion is writing and always has been. Should I invest in a creative writing course of some kind? And if so, what kind of course would be most beneficial?

Thank you all so much for your answers, I have taken all of them into consideration. I will check that class out now but I'm probably too late. Unfortunately after posting my question I got covid and have not been active on here since.

A short course does sound good but competitions and submiting also sound great so I will possibly try doing both. I already have some children's books written and illustrated.

Hi Ella. Why not try submitting some work to publications. There are plenty of genuine e-zines that take submissions and some of them might give you feedback. There are competitions out there too. You could try submitting to a competition and see how you get on. Research the competition first. This W&A website sometimes do one.

That's what I've done for a few years now and I've had some short stories published and placed in competitions. I can't comment on creative writing courses as I haven't done any, mainly due to time and money, but as one of the other posters mentioned, there are writers groups around too.

Hi Ingrid, I've signed up for that class.

I'm new to writing over the last year or so and still trying to figure a path. Looking forward to the class.
