Synopsis

Nothing earth shattering here. Just wondering as I type my seemingly endless synopsis, if anyone else out there thinks that a synopsis does not really give justice to a long(in my case very long) book or books. Any tips on how to stop rabbiting on and on and on ? No cynical or offensive replies please. I myself prefer self publishing (as a geek) and wonder weather writers are still pandering to the almighty buck funded publishing houses? thoughts?

Hi, Anne!

More than a question, yours is a questionnaire. Not meaning to be offensive OR to complain: au contraire!

I could probably outdistance you when it comes to synopses. For my latest book, the synopsis is longer than the book's text. [It's a picture book with relatively few words.]

All my friends complain about my rabbiting on and on. My advice to you is to find an agent who LOVES rabbits... and then pass their address on to me! Failing that, get one of your friends to read your synopsis and slash at it with a large knife.

I share your criticisms of "the almighty-buck-funded publishing houses". In my case, the fact that they're ruled by the almighty buck means that they have NO interests in [my] books that encourage children to question EVERYTHING!!!

That's a BIG part of my reason for starting my own publishing hut. http://la-granota.com/press.htm

Good luck with the rabbits!
