Just to point it out, Simon P Clark has posted his new blog entry on editing this week and it is below the competition posts made by admin. After the comments Adrian and I made he probably feels as if he is preaching to the converted, but his editing methods are really thorough and very helpful. Definitely worth a look.
It helps depending on what part of the journey you are. Editing is a necessary evil, but perhaps does not need such emphasis until you are done with the first draft?

Simon's posts are excellent. He breaks down the editing into three sections. I had not thought of editing like that, I use a longer checklist which I posted. I believe that the end result of both our methods is the same.
