Hi..has anyone got any tips they can share when editing and changing words .. I find it difficult and time consuming sometimes to make a sentence make sense.

when editing a long sentence sometimes the words don't flow and I try to swap them around chop and change them , then fear i have made the sentence too short...any tips on this??

Cheers,

Kat.

Just recalled the best editing tip of all...

If you want to spot a typo, grammar error, break in continuity - in fact absolutely anything that you don't want to be in your finished item... press "Print".

:-( You can look at your work a thousand times and not see something - the moment it starts to churn out of the printer all sorts of things will be leaping out yelling 'Me! Me! Look! I'm here! Me! Me! Me!'

That's another "guess how I know that?"

Each Sentence : What is My Basic Point Subject? What Am I Saying About It?

If in doubt over a choice of words, opt for the simple word over the longer more complicated word.

Keep sentences short, use simple vocabulary.

Sentences should be visual and speakable.

Build sentence round a person or solid object.

'One thought one sentence.' Bertrand Russell.

Alain : ( French Philosopher ) An abstract style is always bad. Your sentences should be full of stones, metals, chairs, tables, animals, men and women.

I hope that helps.

Good luck.
