Too Ambitious?

I'm planning the events of my entire novel (or novella, depending on how much I manage to get out of it) around the events of one evening, including flashbacks to the past, detailing how the character ended up where they are. I'm scared! It's the best course of action for the particular story, but it's quite a task to handle. Has anyone managed this successfully? Can you offer any advice?

Thank you everyone! I'm trying to remember that the first raft doesn't have to be perfect or to have all of the detail and to RELAX! Easier said than done. Now, I think I ought to take up David's suggestion... where's the kettle?...

I've long since had an idea for a novel following the events of one afternoon with flashbacks into the lives of the main characters over the previous few weeks. I think its perfectly doable and will keep your reader in the moment, but will be a challenge. Good luck!

You could signpost by using the hours of the day for your chapter titles, and specific dates for the flashbacks.
