Hey everyone! This is another of dilemmas which much writers have, for that, I decided to make this question because I want to know what is your opinion about it.

In my opinion, I prefer write with pen and paper – specifically a notebook – because I think is easier write the ideas and easier concentrate, because when I'm in the computer I distract much (the internet, the aplications and other things more – you know) but, that yes, I rewrite in the computer becase is necessary for send my manuscript at the editorials or agents.

When I started writing stories, I used a pen and paper. Then my writing was less structured. I literally was throwing words at a piece of paper. I would wake up at 3 in the morning and jot words down. On the bus, anywhere.

But, as the words and stories piled up, I eventually started using a computer and wrote in 'Microsoft Word.'

Now I use a writing software program, spreadsheets, and anything else I can lay my hands on. My writing is much more structured.

Reflecting on my beginnings, I wrote in some fairly special places. So, maybe I should take more notes via pen and paper, bring them home, and then use a computer.

I suppose the short answer to your question is - use whatever method you find suits you!

I might be the odd one out here. I use a mechanical pencil in an A4 lined notebook.

My first work filled four of these. What I do is leave the first dozen or so pages clear for notes, chapters, maps etc...

This way I can easily flick to the front and see my reference material.

I number each page as I go, and add a word count at the bottom of each page. That is how I track my days work, and also the lengths of my chapters.
