Hi There!
I have a question that I've been putting of until I figured this out myself but sadly that never happened, and so I find myself writing to my trusty writing friends on this website. When is it the right moment to explain or describe the fantasy world around your characters so that readers get a feel of where they are? I was thinking maybe in the first 25% of the story (first part) but I'm not entirely sure I'm right.
Any help would be great.
Thanks again.
I'm not aware of what type of fantasy you are writing.
I would see how best-selling authors of fantasy novels introduce and describe their settings.
Philip Pullman won the Carnegie Medal for Northern Lights, the first book of the His Dark Materials trilogy. That might be a good place to research.
I hope that helps.
Good luck.
great reply Antoinette got me thinking now :)
Every time the character(s) move into a new area. See it as growing up; at first you only know the room you sleep in, but as you get older you see more of the house, and then your garden. The older you get, the more of the world you get to see. That's how I see it anyway.
