Oh yes, thanks for reminding me Sarah. I love Enid Blyton's books. Read the whole lot of the Famous Five, Secret Seven, the Five Findouters and many more. Also love reading Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys.
Like Sarah, I simply love Enid Blyton's. Even till this day, I still read her books as her books are the ones that pose as my reading comfort zone and I never get tired reading them.
Thanks Sarah for reminding me about the books I read as a child. Had it not been for Enid Blyton's, I wouldn't have gone all the way to read those by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens etc as mentioned in my earlier post. Three cheers for Dame Enid Blyton!
I like Jane Austen, Charles Dicken and Lucy Maud Montgomery. As for modern writers, I would go for Sir Jeffrey Archer, Sidney Sheldon, John Grisham & Barbara Taylor Bradford.
Jonathan I am also a fan of Clive Cussler , Dick Francis too and Agatha Christie and read most of their works.. there's too many brilliant authors out there to name
But the prize has to go to Enid Blyton the first books I learnt to read. I still remember the absolute joy of reading Secret Seven all by myself aged six. That set me on the road to a love of reading and in my childhood I must have read hundreds of Enid Blyton's.
When I was about 10 Enid Blyton was considered not PC by my school and banned. The teachers turned their noses at her books and it really puzzled me as a child, why I was meant to feel ashamed for loving her stores...a shame really
