Whne the going gets tough

What do you do when you look at your work and you have to admit to yourself it's pretty dreadful, even though you've slaved over it for years?

I read something recently dashed off by a 15 year old girl that was so brilliant I felt like a total looser?

When dark despair creeps in have you any advice to banish the demons?

I have a massive ego, so...

On a more serious note, I've been working on my novel for almost three years now and sometimes I do think its a colossal waste of time. My story is rubbish and full of cliches. Its never going to be published.

I keep going because I enjoy writing and I haven't taken time out from anything to write, so If nothing comes of it, oh well. But if something amazing happens, then yay!

So my advice would be, keep going because you have nothing to lose. And don't focus too much on that fifteen year old. She's probably a child-genius or something.
