Writing dark academia

Hello Everyone!

I am Aurora Jane. It's a pleasure meeting you all. You can call me Aurora/Rory/AJ (or anything that sounds comfortable to you :)). Since this is my first post on this platform, I will keep it brief.

I love literature. Since childhood, a part of me has always been gravitated towards novels, storybooks, poetry (basically anything with the alphabet). Childhood me also harbors a dream- becoming a recognized published author and write hundreds of books. Big dreams, I know.

After thoroughly convincing myself to start, I finally decided to begin my writing journey but something your girl lacks is a good social circle. INTP problems. That's partly why I decided to appear on this platform. You are all readers and what better way to ask questions about literature than in a group full of people passionate about books like myself.

Now onto the main question: I want to write a romance novel but not a rom com, more like a dark academia, academic rivals, lots of banter and just COMPLEXITIES. Sue me, I'm a girl with layers!

Q: What will be your recommendations to me (anything is welcome)?

Thank You

Hello Aurora

have you read Brideshead Revisited, or Zuleika Dobson, these are the only two books that come to mind as starting points
