Hi all!

I meant Lee Child not Childs!
I read a lot of the classics in my teens and the detailed plot and characters of many of those books has influenced me (especially Rebecca, Wuthering Heights and most books by Dickens). My actual writing style is much more concise and fast paced than the classics though and this has probably been influenced by the quick punchy style you find in authors such as Lee Childs. I recently read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn which I loved the fast pace of. I always try to mix up my reading with older fiction and new (I'm reading Agatha Christie at the moment) and hope that the combined influences have a positive effect on my writing.
In my youth I read the works many authors, but the first to suck me in was Stephen King. I must have read every, or almost every, novel written by him. Although I found his opening chapters, where he introduces his characters extremely ploddy (if that's a word), I always knew that once I got past there, I wouldn't be able put the book down. I got inspiration for developing my personal writing styles and character building from that. In my later years one other has influenced my writing styles, and that is Lee Child. His plot is obviously well researched and convincing. He takes you there.
