Is your protagonist male or female?

I wonder if most protagonists are the same sex as the author.

I think you are right Adrian most of the time they are the same sex as the author.

I always use female protagonists, may be because a girl would know better, how a girl will deal or react in a certain situation and same goes for boys.

May be some ppl won't agree with me but that's my take on it.

For me, they usually start as male, but I'll play around with the idea and see if it would work any better with a female protagonist.

Till now I have been using male protagonists and have felt comfortable. But now in my forthcoming novel, I have decided to have a female protagonist.......
