Do you have difficulty writing about the opposite sex?

My novel is in the chivalric genre. It's about a noble knight whose ambition is to cleanse his beloved homeland of his enemies and win the hand of the woman he loves. Needless to say the noble knight and his lady face great adversity. Their romance nearly ends. I found it mind-bendingly hard writing highly-charged scenes between them, because I know little about women's psychology.
I believe women are better at writing about difficult romantic situations.

My protagonists are male and female. I don't have a problem writing about either. Do you?
