How to Get Published - Manchester

How to Get Published - Manchester

Are you a writer looking to develop your craft, and get published? Do you want to understand more about the publishing process from the people who know it best: authors, editors and literary agents?

We’re delighted to be partnering with Manchester Metropolitan University and the Open University to offer this full day conference packed with practical presentations and panel discussions from authors and publishing industry professionals. Our programme has been purpose-built to provide a range of guidance on the writing craft as well as insight into the world of publishing, while our networking lunch gives you a unique opportunity to connect with writing peers and build your own community.

Attendees will hear from established writers as they share essential advice on developing your craft as a writer and working towards publication. Plus two dedicated panels across the day will provide opportunities for you to hear from a selection of agents who will demystify the submission process, and also a selection of publishers and editors who will talk you through a range of possible routes to publication as well as answering your questions.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to our ‘How to Get Published’ conference in collaboration with Open University and Manchester Metropolitan University. You will be hearing from writers, agents and publishers to help you hone your craft and get your work published.

Lunch will be provided, so please do please let us know any dietary requirements you have by 9th April so we can pass these on to the kitchen.

What to bring:

We will be providing you with an event pack which will include speaker bios, pens and a folder. We’d recommend bringing along a notebook to take notes during the sessions. We will also be selling books written by the speakers as well as craft guides at a reduced rate. This will be a cashless operation, so do bring your card along if you’d like to make any purchases.

Please note, we will be taking photos at the event which will be used to promote future events. If you are not comfortable being photographed just let us know either by email or on the day.

If you are interested in working in publishing, and don’t already know about our upcoming event, we are running a ‘Careers in Publishing’ panel event the evening before in a nearby venue where publishing professionals will be talking about their roles and sharing tips on getting into the industry. You can find out about the event here.
