Lessons from a Literary Competition Judge
Are you submitting your writing to competitions? Do you want to hear directly from a literary competition judge?
Join Matt Friedson (Creative Future) as he shares his experience of running the Creative Future Writers’ Award competition, revealing some of the common do’s and don’ts to watch out for as you are sending in your work.
He’ll talk about what excites him in a submission—covering poetry, short stories and creative non-fiction—and how to make your work stand out. Matt will also discuss the importance of following the guidelines of a competition when submitting your work, as well as how to respond to themed callouts. Finally, he’ll offer his advice on keeping track of your competition entries, and how (and why) to keep going in the face of rejection.T
he session will end with time for Q&A, so come ready with your questions! This masterclass will take place online via Teams. It will also be recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you'll be able to catch-up and access the recording for up to two weeks after the event has taken place.
The workshop is just £5 (incl. VAT) and all ticket sales go towards funding bursary places for low-income creatives across our programme.
