Researching and Writing Children's Non-Fiction
Writers of children's non-fiction have an important job. Their books are a child's first introduction to find out more about the world they live in. Children are bold and curious and full of hope, but they also don't have much time for a list of dry facts. So...how can you write children's non-fiction in a way that inspires them? In this practical workshop, which comes as part of our online Children's & YA Fiction Festival 2022, author Rashmi Sirdeshpande will share how she researches and writes children's non-fiction. You will learn to hone your own writing style and how you can convey important subjects and themes in an inclusive and accessible way. Attendees can expect the opportunity to participate in writing exercises, while 30 minutes will be reserved at the end for a Q&A. We are partnering with an independent bookshop (details TBC) and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase all festival books directly with them. Exclusive Content All attendees reserving a place at this event also receive free access to An Introduction to Children's Publishing in 2022, a video interview with Alysoun Owen, Editor of the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook and the Children's Writers' & Artists' Yearbook. A link to the interview will be circulated by email ahead of the festival, and remain available to view for one week.
