Writing Across Time: A Time Travelling Workshop

All writing is concerned with time, whether you are writing historical, contemporary or sci-fi, fiction or non-fiction. In this online workshop, acclaimed author Yvonne Battle-Felton (Remembered) is inviting you to time travel with her. The ‘when’ can be both an opportunity and a challenge in your writing. Yvonne will offer you the tools to explore the past of a place (whether real or fictional) in order to inform its present and the characters spending time in it. She’ll delve into using historic and present-day headlines to situate your story firmly in time and connect your narrative with the issues of your chosen time period. And she’ll use images to inspire your thinking about the future, guiding you through how to build a strong sense of time even when writing in an era that hasn’t happened yet.

Through exercises and workshopping, Yvonne will offer you the chance to explore the when and the who of your story.

The session will end with a brief Q&A, so come ready with your questions.
