We are really looking forward to welcoming you to ‘Writing Family in Fiction’ with author Jyoti Patel.

Join award-winning writer Jyoti Patel (The Things That We Lost) to delve into strategies for crafting complex and compelling characters that resonate with your readers. Together, you'll examine the intricacies of family dynamics, focusing on conflict, duty, and secrets, and how these can be used to drive tension. Jyoti will also explore the significance of perspective and voice, and offer tips on writing nuanced and authentic dialogue. Plus she'll hone in on how to create a satisfying plot and engaging narrative structure around family.

Finally, Jyoti will share her journey to publication, including winning the 2021 Merky Books New Writers' Prize and the journey to publishing her debut novel The Things That We Lost.
