How it works

1. What documents do I need to upload after payment? If you are writing fiction, please upload the opening chapter of your work along with a synopsis. Writers of fiction or non-fiction can only submit a first chapter of no more than 3,000 words. If you are a writer of picture books or early readers' stories, you may upload your full manuscript provided it is no more than 500 words. Your service cannot begin until all documents have been uploaded.

2. Submitting a synopsis or chapter outline: If you are writing fiction or narrative non-fiction, please upload a one page synopsis. In its simplest form a synopsis is no more than a technical document to guide an editor/agent through your book. Check out our Writing a Synopsis Guide
If you are writing subject-led non-fiction you need to upload a chapter outline. This should be no more than 5 pages. Check out our Writing a Chapter Outline Guide.

3. I've uploaded my documents and the service is 'In Progress'. When will I receive my report?  Your report should be with you within 10 working days of your work being allocated to an editor and agent (taking into account UK holiday periods and book fairs). Both editor and agent will read your submission form and accompanying documents, and each will write up separate reports, to combine into your final report.

4. What if my report isn't returned on time? This is unlikely to happen, but if it does then please use the in-site messenger within your dashboard to contact W&A Admin, who will update you on the progress of the service as soon as possible.

5. What if my service isn't picked up at all? This is also very unlikely to happen, but if it does then W&A Admin will contact you with an alternative solution and suggestions for how to proceed.
