It was nearly Tommy's bedtime
The clock was close to 8
But little did he know, tonight was going to be great
So as Tommy climbed into his bed and began to close his eyes
Tommy had no idea that he was in for a big surprise
Tommy started to go to sleep and still didn't have a clue
Then suddenly he was awake but in the middle of the Zoo
Tommy was confused and sure he was still asleep
But then to Tommy's amazement he could hear the animals speak
What am I doing here ? Tommy asked Is this all a Joke ?
No my dear boy as the Lion spoke
How are you talking, I dont understand, animals can't speak
We can at night Tommy but only when you are asleep
All animals have hobbies and things they like to do
So let me tell you everything what happens at the Zoo
The pandas talk about bamboo
The tigers speak about meat
The fish just like to blow bubbles
The birds just like to tweet
The monkeys love bananas and swinging from the trees
We have Orangutans, gorilla's and especially chimpanzees
The zebras like to do puzzles
The elephants like to read
The giraffes like to look down on us
But they still can't see their knees
The seals like to play ping pong
The bears they like to sleep
But never play games with the cheetahs
Because of course they like to cheat
The koala bears are chatty
The hyenas love to laugh
The polar bears are funny
The skunks like taking a bath
The tortoises are sleepy
The hares are very fast
But if you ever saw them race
It's surprising who comes last
The hippos love the water and doing the doggy paddle
The horses like to go riding but you must bring your own saddle
There are also creepy crawlies who also like to talk
They wriggle and wiggle and jiggle and giggle
But most just like to walk
So now you know the tale of what animals like to do
It's never a normal night here when you're staying at the zoo
Not many people know our secrets
Its something we would like to keep
The Zoo comes to life at night
Especially when people sleep
