2013 Short Story competition

by Jean Beaini
27th February 2013

Will the winner and runners up of the competition be informed prior to the event on March 26th or do they only find out on the night? If they aren't informed then what happens if the winner isn't at the event? Do they lose their prize? Do you only stand a chance of winning if you have bought a ticket for the event? Will a short list be published on here before the event takes place?

I feel like a real loser at present, so if by some amazing stroke of luck I'm placed on the shortlist, it will be a huge bonus. I'm not even thinking about getting any further...

Would just like to add that the WAYB community is a lifeline to me. Every time I log in I discover that I'm not the only one with self-esteem issues and fear of failure. Thank you to absolutely everyone for your posts and good luck to everybody who has entered this year's competition. I don't know what I'd do without you all!

And one more thing - there is failure in success and success in failure... We all know this, it's just that when we 'fail' or 'lose', it's hard to remember this.

Damien, me too. I think they should send the letters by registered mail, informing us that we are losers! That way , if we are out when it's delivered, the postie will leave a nice little note letting us it's waiting for us to pick it up from the postie depot.

Good question, will the loser get a letter to because I might be out when it comes..

Good luck Jean, hope you're on the winners list.
