hello there, wonder if you can help me. i've just finished writing the first book in what will be a series of fantasy horror novels for young adults. my question is this; when i'm ready to approach an agent with the first novel, obviously i send a covering letter, synopsis etc for the first book, but should i include a synopsis for the future books i hope to write as well? thus far i've the first three planned out. can you please advise? best regards, sarah

You may not need to send a synopsis but in my opinion it might me a good idea to state this in your covering letter. An agent is looking for a long relationship with an author, not a one night stand, so the fact that you have other novels planned or in the pipeline is a good selling point.

Good Luck.

I have written a five book series. I won't include a synopsis for each book, just the first one, but I will include a single page synopsis of the series as a whole so they can see where the rest of the books go. Of course, that is because the storyline of the whole series is complete. If you haven't actually written the rest of the series it's harder to do that so perhaps just add some of your ideas for continuing story in your cover letter.

Good Luck.
